What Music Means To Me?
In the past, I attempted to learn to play the drums for about 3 years. This gave me very good insight into the way music is created, and also got me interested in music in general. However, I didn't start properly listening to music until around 2014. This is where I started to listen to music in my own time. I started listening to mainly Pop, from albums like NOW Music, or just the normal radio. As I got older I started to differentiate into specific genres, having the all so stereotypical 'emo-phase' where I enjoyed heavy metal/punk/rock music from bands like My Chemical Romance, Bring Me The Horizon and Slipknot. Now days I enjoy all different types of music, and whilst still listening to the genres mentioned above they are not all I listen to. At the time of writing this I am enjoying listening to artists like; Childish Gambino, Oh Wonder, The Hunna and Beartooth.
Another key aspect of music that interests me personally is its usage in films and TV. I listen to a wide variety of movie soundtracks with some of my favourites being; The Lord of the Rings, Drive, Django Unchained and Star Wars. I think the way that music is created to fit what is being shown on screen but at the same time is memorable and emotive enough to produce certain feelings in a viewer is a really amazing art and something that I would love to learn more about in the future (maybe on the University course I plan to take; Film Production).
I decided to choose a few different music videos that caught my attention as a viewer but also tried to pick one from each year below 2017; to show some kind of growth. Each of the music videos below will be assessed further through the Blog.
