Production Diary Three - 02/10/2017
After conducting audience research in the form of a
questionnaire that we handed out to members of our target audience and of which
we conducted a focus group on, we have come to learn some key things about what
we need to make a successful production.
We have found out about some texts that would be perfect to
analyse and to draw inspiration from, including I Wasn’t Expecting That and 1800.
We have found that memorable music videos are often the ones that do something
different; whether they have a new and refreshing narrative that tackles
interesting subject matter or whether they utilise a specific set of concepts;
like different camera angles or a different idea altogether like GOTYE’s
Somebody That I Used To Know.
Other than that, we found out our audience’s opinion on some
key ideas we had about our production. We found that our target audience liked
the idea of letterboxing and that they liked a mix of both narrative and
performance and a mix of narrative-progressing shots and aesthetically pleasing
ones. This information is going to inform the creation of our final product
greatly.
