Our Influences
At this point in the task, where narrative and actual cinematography is pretty far off, one of the ways we need to mold our video is through influence and inspiration. Each member of our group has their own influence but what we have realised is that these influences share similarities; especially when considering genre and general aesthetic. Here are our influences and how we are going to incorporate this into our own production.

Here are our influences and how we are going to incorporate this into our own production.
-Twenty One Pilots-
Twenty One Pilots are a currently very mainstream musical duo, consisting of a drummer and a vocalist who can also play guitar, ukulele and piano. They tend to fall under the branding of 'emo music', but some of their most recent songs like Stressed Out have made it massive; achieving them Number 1's in the charts. Their music videos are often simplistic, tending to show more performance than actual storyline (probably due to their indie genre). They often use high key lighting and an incorporation of the performance into the general video (so it doesn't look out of place). They also have some key motifs that are shown in a variety of their videos, like the black painted hands, red eyeliner and the hanging microphone. The things we have taken away from this is that we need to blend performance in enough so that it doesn't look out of place and that we could include some motifs shown throughout the video.
-The 1975-
Jordan's main influence is the band The 1975. The reason they are an influence to him is that, for starters, he is a big fan of them as a band but also thinks that their Music Videos are well-made and something we should try and replicate. Upon asking him, he said that he thinks the angles they use and the aesthetic shots they manage to capture play a big part in his love for them. They often use an interesting colour scheme and different lighting techniques that link with the narrative they are portraying. Their videos are both narrative and performance based, bending them together, which is something we want to do for our video. They also contradict their genre due to the aesthetic nature of their videos, which makes them original. They also have a distinct look in regards to dress (costume) that is something we may decide to stick closely to.

Their music videos often have a very retro look, with some even being editing in black and white. They are often related solely to performance but sometimes include narrative; with the former always being more prominent. They would be seen as much more of a part of the Rock genre as opposed to the Indie Rock genre. Some of the things we can take from having the Arctic Monkeys as an inspiration is their visual style (in relation to costume) and also their usage of black and white (which is an artistic decision we may consider).
