Our Inspirations

When thinking about producing our Music Video, inspiration played a massive part. We looked at a lot of existing music videos and remembered some we had watched before. We thought about some of the more memorable shots and techniques used in them and banked these in our memory to adapt them in our own work. For example; watching Hozier's Take Me To Church gave us clarification on whether our storyline could be effective. It also showed that a good music video can be produced in black and white, but that isn't something we will follow. Finally, it showed how good letterboxing can look, which is definitely something that we want to incorporate. Another video we looked at was Jamie Lawson's Wasn't Expecting That. This gave us good ideas for transitions and how colour grading can be used to convey emotion in a scene. More recently we watched Logic's 1-800-273-8255, which annoyingly had a very similar story to what we had pitched, but showed us that this kind of narrative can work effectively. It also gave us a couple of ideas for shots.
