Production Diary Five - 14/10/2017

One of the key aspects of our planning is to distinguish our mise-en-scene elements that will be included in our video. Firstly, we attempted to find a good set of locations to film in; including Jordan’s house, my front garden (for the band sequence) and the Thorndon Woods for the smoke grenade and BMX scenes. We decided on each of these due to their easiness to get to and the fact we we’re allowed to set off pyrotechnics there.

We have decided to use makeup in our video, as we need to show that Jack has been beaten up. We are using a makeup artist for this – who will give Jack a black eye, broken nose and some cuts on his face.

Costume is the most important element that we need to plan. As our genre is indie rock , we need to meet the conventions set out by this. For the band sequences we are using costumes like denim jackets, skinny ripped jeans, flannel shirts and vest tops (for the drummer). These costumes are easily identifiable as conventions of the indie rock genre. For the rest of the production we wanted to use ‘normal’ clothes; coming from somewhat of an emo/hipster background. This included jeans, shirts and hoodies.
