Usage Of Software
Script
During our production stage we had to use a variety of
software to create both our video and our DigiPak. We chose to use the Adobe
Suite for this section, mainly due to the vast amount of different things it
can achieve and the fact that there are tutorials on Youtube of how to do
everything – meaning we could learn new techniques easily.
The first software we used was Adobe Premiere Pro – which we
edited the video on. This let us create a basic structure of video whilst also
utilising layering and some effects we constructed ourselves; like the
letterboxing, quick pan and smooth zoom. It also provided a perfect basis on
which to colour correct our work; as the ability to do this is built into the
application in an easily digestible format.
The next software we used was Adobe After Effects, used to
create the scene where the house is on fire using CGI. This software is used
for more special effects based works like altering transitions, movement or
adding computer generated images. Alex, one of my group members, has the
knowledge of this application and as a result he was the one who used it,
whilst explaining to us how it worked.
Finally, we used Adobe Photoshop to edit our poster and
Digipak. The software is very intuitive and user friendly, allowing us to
create two very successful products without feeling lost or unable to do
anything. It also allows for a multitude of different techniques to be used
(all of which can be researched online). We decided to utilise a double exposure,
that consists of changing layers colour patterns and opacities. This kind of
effect could not be replicated inside a software with less features than Adobe
Photoshop, so we made a good decision.
